There are so many online bingo review sites available online today that before starting BallsUp I wasn’t even aware of. A lot are run by faceless people with a team of people behind them so I thought I would share the story of BallsUp with you, it’s inception and the people who have contributed in many ways to what it is today.
Firstly, how I got into bingo – land bingo I was introduced to by a friend called Sarah – she always took her Nan to the local Gala Bingo club religiously on a Thursday and asked me to tag along. I always tried to get out of it, Bingo after all was all about old ladies with blue rinses! One day, at a loose end I agreed to go, and 10 years later here I am!!
My online bingo cherry however was popped by an advert on TV, I won’t mention the site name as the relationship ended badly and to this day you will not see one advert across the BallsUp network for the site in question!
Suffice to say I was hooked and spent a year at the site in question, I really enjoyed the game play and the fact that you could interact with the people in the chat rooms on their forum as well. It was a home from home.
All this was to change because I dared to have an opinion. Not any opinion, an articulate and fair opinion that resulted in me being warned by management to refrain from posting my opinions or be banned from the forum. For those who don’t know me, there are three things (other than my family) that I value in life more than anything else – my friends, honesty and integrity. I can be opinionated and verbal in getting my point across but I would like to think, on the whole I refrain from name calling. So, said site was told to remove my account immediately and I would not return. I never did return but I am quite proud of what I achieved next – although my account had been banned and closed my forum posts had not been deleted. In my time at the site I must have posted at least 80 image links (using Photobucket) and these were all still sat nicely on the site. What I proceeded to do was change all my image links to one image – one that told the management of the forum to “take their dictatorial attitude and their hypocrisy, shove it up their bottom (yes, that’s the word I used) and blow bubbles with it”. 80 posts with the same image – the forum had to be closed for 30 minutes to ensure that they were all removed!
Anyway, I wasn’t the only person unimpressed with the situation at the said site but un beknown to me, two other players had decided to start their own forum. Kath and Mel had been toying with the idea for a little while and Mel had been looking into free forums. All they needed was a name – and who can I thank for the name I carry now – Kath – BallsUp was the name she came up with and for that Kath – I will be eternally grateful – Thank you xx
