One of the reasons that land based bingo halls are suffering multiple closures has been attributed to the smoking ban in public places but one hall plans to cater for their smoking members buy introducing an outside smoking area. There are to be steel cages for Beacon Bingo in Loughborough where patrons can sit outside and smoke whilst continuing to enjoy their game of bingo.
The question is, is this really the right season to be installing such a shelter?
With steel cages for Beacon Bingo in Baxter Gate instead of a canopy, patrons will be able to continue gambling whilst they enjoy a puff on a cigarette. The canopy currently in place does not meet with gaming licensing rules whereas an enclosed area will. The Beacon Bingo club in Loughborough is not the first land based bingo hall to have a steel cage built, another Beacon Bingo club already has one in place.
Once the gaming licence has been granted by Charnwood Borough Council, Beacon Bingo will invest £60,000 to have the steel cage built and it is hoped that the 1,000 or so players that no longer frequent the hall will return in droves. Before the smoking ban came into force the Beacon Bingo hall was averaging 3,500 players a week, however, when the ban came into place, this number dropped dramatically to just 2,500.
Although we are entirely supportive of the land based bingo industry, this is just one of the benefits of playing internet bingo. You can play in your pyjamas and smoke like a chimney should the fancy take you. How long before Beacon Bingo see the benefits of launching online and if they do, will they offer a no deposit bingo bonus?
