We’ve often seen brands try to take the success of a social media idea and spin it into something that works for an online bingo site. Wonder Bingo tried, and failed – Bingo Godz is trying and seems to be succeeding, albeit slowly. The latest to launch is Aunty Acid Bingo but it’s not taking the social media bingo concept to the player, more a popular character from Facebook.
Aunty Acid was launched solely on Facebook in April 2012 and she already has nearly 600k of likes on the social media site. It makes great marketing sense then to launch a bingo brand – a success waiting to happen.
Sadly we don’t agree – not because of the Aunty Acid brand, we love her funny taglines and sharp wit despite some of her opinions being considered unpopular. Where we feel this may well not quite be the money-spinner that Mr Backland was hoping for is in his choice of software and network.
Despite a number of changes to the Live Bingo Network over recent months (the reduction in the minimum deposit required before withdrawal and the minimum withdrawal amount itself), you can’t ignore some of the other issues with the Cozy Games software. Issues like capped withdrawals per week, chat hosts who are a little over zealous with the smile icons and of course, the inability to register with more than one brand on the network.
With Aunty Acid on the verge of becoming a household name, if it isn’t already, we feel that this brand would have faired better on a network with a better reputation amongst players.
