Have you seen the new Paddy Power Bingo advert; the one with the chap sporting a rather dashing moustache that looks like it has been grown for Movember and a lady on a date? The commercial is showing on television at the moment and features the Home Free Hotline from Paddy Power Bingo, a phone app that calls you to help you get out of tricky situations like a dire date depicted in the new Paddy Power Bingo advert.
The app is currently available to Android phone users and is free to download from the Android Market. It was developed by RedWind and the key features of the app shown in the Paddy Power Bingo commercial include:
- Making your phone ring as if a real call were coming through
- A choice of five scenarios to choose from
- A random “Quick call” option
- The ability to change to look of the background
- A time delay feature

Now whilst the advert is fun for me personally I don’t see the real relevance to bingo; yes, the woman uses the app to get out of her date to go and play online at Paddy Power Bingo but had the date been going swimmingly she surely wouldn’t have preferred a game of online bingo to a night out with a smart, good looking, intelligent guy? Having said that, the bloke in the ad would have anyone running for the hills AND the commercial does have the fun element, however does it do enough to make you remember the brand name Paddy Power or is it the Home Free Hotline you are going to recall when you get to your laptop/PC?
