Last night we saw our favourite pastime of bingo pop up in BBC Three’s “Don’t Tell The Bride”, where a couple engaged to be married have three weeks to plan their wedding – except the catch is that it’s all left in the capable hands of the fiancé. This week we saw couple Josh and Stacie conjure up their own ideas of their day, with Josh responsible for planning Stacie’s hen party. Except it didn’t go to plan – as in, Stacie’s plan – with the disappointed bride-to-be experiencing some bingo problems of her own by celebrating her hen do at Gala Bingo.
Whilst Josh tried to play the part of the considerate future son-in-law by taking both Stacie and her mum’s feelings into account with a visit to Gala Bingo, Stacie was feeling a little underwhelmed and promptly ordered the van to turn around as she refused to get out – joking, of course. However, whilst she initially expressed her boredom at her fiancé’s surprise, she soon cheered up after winning a bottle of champagne – not bad for a trip out to bingo!
Although many people’s preconceptions of bingo involves a quiet night out with the blue rinse brigade, attitudes are changing for the better; mainly due to the recession forcing people to find more economical ways to enjoy their free time. By socialising with friends during a games night out, several people are reaping the benefits of bingo – and with more bingo converts than ever seeking out their next full house win, socialising and bingo gaming definitely makes for a winning combination.
