Bingo Street is the newest site addition to the Joy of Bingo network and I was interested to see what the brand had to offer different from the other brands from the same group. However when we got into the rooms we found more than a little overkill on the chat etiquette at Bingo Street and another example of why SOME sites really need to address some areas with their chat hosts. A definite ‘No No’ in any internet bingo chat room is the mention of another brand name, something most players are aware of….
However what happened in the chat rooms goes a little something like this; the chat host on duty, obviously from one of the other Joy of Bingo brands, used a Tasty Bingo chat macro in the room – a genuine mistake but one that I didn’t feel he was aware of. I pointed this out by saying “I’m from Bingo Street not Tasty, I think you need to change your macro” or something along similar lines at which point I was asked not to mention other sites in the chat room! You can imagine how infuriating I found this after the host had blatantly done just that by the use of the Tasty Bingo macro!
This then got me started, can we not say the words tasty, wink, red bus in a chat room? Are we no longer allowed to talk about the SUN shining or make mention of someone being a little CHEEKY? What about if we want to mention that the Euromillions results produced a ROLLOVER? Come on, really, do the operators think that players in any given bingo chat room are not aware of the number of other brands available online today? Is it going to get to the point where you have to sign an agreement before playing in any online bingo room that you don’t want any television adverts for fear that you may move onto the competition?
Chat hosts need to be trained better in handling situations because whilst the host in question offered me a full apology when he realised that actually he was at fault, the other players then took it upon themselves to become involved and the result can only be described as a bullying free for all. That, in my opinion, is a far worse situation than a mention of another bingo brand.
