It seems that when it comes to bingo on TV, aside from the adverts for internet bingo sites, the format that works has yet to be found! News broke a couple of days ago that Bingo Stars bites the dust in the same way Bingo Night Live failed. NetPlay TV, the people behind the show, reported a massive £7.9 million loss in the last half year accounts!
Having watched Bingo Stars once we are not shocked to hear that the program has ended to be replaced with more airtime for Challenge Jackpot. In our opinion, and remember it is just that, an opinion, bingo is not a game made for viewing on the small screen.
Whilst many tune in to watch a game of poker, bingo is a completely different ball game, if you excuse the pun. Poker has an element of skill involved, a player can be losing with the smallest stack of chips only to then win the game with a run of great play and cards flopping in their favour. Poker has elements of both skill and luck whilst bingo is merely a game of chance. Whilst we love playing internet bingo, does watching it on television really have any pull?
Not according to the failure rate! Both Bingo Night Live and Bingo Stars have been unable to attract the player numbers that they expected.
Are we likely to see other big names in the industry try and succeed where Bingo Night Live and Bingo Stars have failed? It’s extremely unlikely but if it happens, you’ll read about it here!
