Not so long ago we saw PartyGaming purchase Cashcade and their associated brands and yesterday news broke with talk of 888 buying Wink Bingo. The internet bingo industry has always been one that has many different operators involved but are we about to see a big bingo consolidation and if so what does it mean for us, the bingo players.
Whilst both 888 and PartyGaming are big names and each offer something different to the other, are we going to see a PartyGaming versus 888 tug of war soon?
888 is the brand that offers the bingo software to all the Cashcade sites and if this bingo consolidation goes ahead and we do see a battle between the two big names are sites like Foxy Bingo, Cheeky Bingo and Foxy Zero going to lose the bingo software that they are currently on. Would it mean that these well known brands are then powered by the inferior bingo software powered by PartyGaming?
There are many different softwares available in the world of internet bingo and the popularity of each can be attributed to marketing on our television screens. It was only recent that Foxy Bingo came in 10th in a survey by Adwatch as the ONLY bingo brand that viewers recalled but could Foxy Bingo maintain their popularity if they had to move to the PartyGaming bingo software? As a bingo player, I would have to say that this is very unlikely.
With 888 set to buy Wink Bingo are we likely to see other bingo consolidations taking place across the board? Some believe that this is a good thing for the industry, what do you think?
